INDIANAPOLIS CITY MARKET CORPORATION
JOB DESCRIPTION

OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR
Full-Time Salaried Position

Reports to Deputy Director.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for maintenance, janitorial services and event operational support for the Indianapolis City Market. Position requires both contractor management ability and hands-on execution skills of repair and maintenance needs. Position entails participating in and overseeing team/s to keep common areas clean and the physical plant running smoothly and comfortably. Position requires the ability to work well with tenants, City Market customers and staff.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

· Strong supervisory, communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
· Strong organizational skills.
· Ability to complete work order forms from creation through to follow-up and completion of project and submission to supervisor.
· Computer/e-mail/Microsoft skills are helpful.
· Knowledge of building operations and mechanical systems, including heating and air conditioning, plumbing, electrical systems, elevator systems, cooking hood systems/filtration, security systems and cooler and freezer units. Ability and technical skills to make minor repairs to systems as appropriate. Performs light carpentry and painting also.
· Ability to complete job tasks independently while working toward a team goal.
· Lifting, climbing stairs/ladders, handling snow removal, being outdoors during inclement weather (at times) are requirements of the job.
· Knowledge of janitorial and cleaning procedures.
· Knowledge of pest control procedures.
· Knowledge of preventative maintenance procedures.
· Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory codes for public food service facilities is helpful.
· Performs snow and ice removal on City Market property.
· Assists with special events set up and/or take down as needed.
· Presents self in professional attire and overall appearance as outlined by supervisor and Employee Handbook.
· Interprets policies and procedures as established by superiors.
· Performs any and all other duties as assigned.
· Weekend and evening availability is required.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead by example—not afraid to participate in any and all duties that subordinates may be asked or required to perform.

Manage contract services and maintenance staff in the performance of duties, including scheduling, training, work performance and evaluation.

Maintain inventory, supplies, equipment and public area furnishings. Order supplies as needed.

Manage maintenance budgets.

Participate in the ongoing assessment and monitoring of operational, structural and cosmetic needs of facility.

Work with tenants to ensure compliance with City Market rules and regulations.

Attend Board of Directors and Building Committee meetings as necessary.

Develop and implement preventive maintenance measures.

Develop, update and/or maintain as needed a Standard Operating Procedures manual for building operations.

Work with staff, suppliers and contractors in ensuring the facility is safe, clean and fully functional. Monitor the work of suppliers and contractors to ensure fulfillment of work contracted on behalf of the City Market.

Work with appropriate government officials to ensure the facility is in compliance with regulatory codes (e.g. Fire Marshall, Marion County Board of Health).

Execute special projects as assigned.

Any and all other duties as assigned.
